The Smart Delay block is used to pause your chatbot's conversation flow for a specific amount of time before it continues to the next step.
It helps create a more natural, human-like conversation pace. It can also be used to send follow-up messages after a set period, such as sending a reminder or checking back with a customer.
The "Duration" field is where you enter the number for how long the delay should last, for example, "5" for a 5-minute delay.
In the "Units of Time" field, you select whether the duration is in seconds, minutes, hours, or days.
To set up a delay, you simply enter a number in the "Duration" field and then select the corresponding time unit from the "Units of Time" dropdown.
Yes. You can enter a number in the "Duration" field and select "seconds" from the "Units of Time" dropdown.
Yes. You can set the "Duration" to "1" and the "Units of Time" to "day" to send a follow-up message after 24 hours.
After the specified time has passed, the chatbot will automatically continue the conversation by executing the next block connected to the Smart Delay.
You can use it to:
Wait for a customer to read a message before replying.
Send a reminder about an upcoming appointment.
Follow up with a customer after a purchase.
After you have configured the duration and time unit, you must click submit to save the block and add it to your chatbot's flow.
Setting a reasonable delay is important to prevent the bot from seeming unresponsive or, conversely, from sending too many messages too quickly and overwhelming the user.
It provides a simple, no-code way to build timed actions into your bot's flow, which would otherwise require complex scheduling code.
You can find the Smart Delay block by navigating to Dashboard → Quick Access. Then, under ChatMaxima Studio, click on Create Chatbot. The Smart Delay block will be available in the sequence section of the builder.
